In this video, Matthew Zubiller, vice president of Decision Management at McKesson Health Solutions, discusses the challenges that payers and providers face in making sure that advanced diagnostics — molecular and genetic testing — are appropriately used. Key to helping payers measure and manage their use is the ability to understand which tests are being used, how many are being used, who is performing them and who is ordering them. Providers, on the other hand, need help in determining whether a test is appropriate for a particular patient, whether it is covered by the patient’s health insurance, what it costs, where it should be administered and what the potential impacts of the test might be.
